Ivan Toney, an England footballer who played for Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia and participated in the World Cup, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 3 to face charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The incident occurred on December 6, 2022, when Toney allegedly headbutted and punched Saber Da Silva after an argument broke out between them at a live music venue in Soho. Toney entered a plea of not guilty during the short hearing that lasted only 12 minutes. The court heard that Da Silva sustained injuries to his nose and fingers from the alleged assault. Toney, who has scored 72 goals for Brentford before moving to Al-Ahli, missed out on the latest England squad due to this case.
