The District of Summerland in British Columbia rescinded all evacuation orders on October 4, nearly two months after the Bald Range wildfire devastated the region. The fire began rapidly growing on the evening of August 7 and damaged or destroyed 150 buildings. As a result, thousands of residents were evacuated from Summerland and nearby communities. To facilitate safe recovery efforts, access to the affected zone remains restricted to authorized personnel only, covering approximately 30 properties. An elderly woman in Meadow Valley died during the evacuation period due to complications related to the wildfire. Post-wildfire assessments are ongoing to ensure continued safety and efficient recovery operations.
