In July, Tamya Staten, aged 21, entered an Indianapolis store called Once Upon a Child. The store policy prohibits children from playing inside, but her toddler was riding around in a toy car. When informed about the policy violation by staff, Staten became enraged, allegedly pulling out a "large black handgun" from her leggings.
Staten pointed the gun at employees and threatened to use it while telling her child to continue playing. She then left the store with her child. Surveillance cameras recorded the entire incident, including her driving away, allowing police to track her down using her license plate number and an ID card she had shown earlier.
Police charged Staten in Marion County court with felony charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon and pointing a firearm.
