An Edmonton man, Dwight Peter MacIntyre, aged 44, was charged by the RCMP for allegedly threatening to kill Canada's Prime Minister, Mark Carney, via social media. The arrest came after an investigation initiated on September 4, when the RCMP became aware of threats made against the Prime Minister on the platform X (formerly Twitter). Supt. Matt Johnson from the RCMP’s Federal Policing Northwest Region emphasized that such online activities are treated seriously and can lead to real-world consequences, stating, "When online comments cross the line into criminal conduct, police will investigate and take appropriate action." MacIntyre is scheduled to appear in court on November 25. This case follows another recent arrest of a Calgary man over similar threats made via YouTube.
