Andrew Bailey won the U.S. Mid-Amateur championship in Nekoosa, Wisconsin, defeating Nate Smith with a score of 5 and 4 on Thursday. By winning this tournament, Bailey earned spots in both the Masters and U.S. Open golf tournaments for next year. During his victory match, Bailey took the lead with a birdie on the 23rd hole and played his final 17 holes without dropping any strokes below par. Smith led most of the morning round but couldn't hold off Bailey's strong finish in the afternoon session. Bailey, based in Cleveland, had previously attended the U.S. Open this summer as a spectator for Holderness & Bourne attire, and now he faces discussing time off with his bosses to compete professionally.
