IG Group, a London-based online trading firm that also owns Freetrade, saw its shares slump by up to 25% after it announced revised revenue targets for 2026, cutting the expected growth rate from 10-15% to "mid-single-digit per cent." For the three months ending September, IG reported total revenues of around £240 million, a 14% decline year over year. The company attributed this drop primarily to a decrease in revenue retention across its OTC (over-the-counter) division, which fell to 70%, down from an average of about 80% since the second half of 2025. Despite these challenges, IG remains optimistic that it will see structural increases in OTC revenue retention over the medium and long term, although with greater expected short-term variability. Organic first trades increased by 25% year on year, but this was not enough to offset overall revenue declines. On Friday morning, shares of IG were trading down at 993p, a drop of 22.4%.
