Viewers of BBC News were surprised this week when they saw Matthew Banks, a sign language interpreter with a striking resemblance to Prime Minister Andy Burnham, translating an interview between the PM and BBC political editor Chris Mason. The uncanny likeness led some viewers to joke that Banks was Burnham's "stunt double," noting his similar hairstyle, glasses, suit, and tie. Despite these comments, Banks is actually a professional interpreter who has worked full-time for two decades before becoming a lawyer after graduating from the University of Cambridge with a law degree and completing an MA in BSL interpreting.
