On September 25, a deadly 8-car pileup occurred in Oxnard, California, resulting in the deaths of two drivers and injuries to five others. David Mora, a 29-year-old resident of Santa Paula, allegedly caused the crash by running a red light with his 2018 GMC Sierra pickup truck, hitting a 1998 Toyota Avalon and a 2005 Honda Civic that were traveling through an intersection on a green light. Both drivers killed at the scene were unidentified men aged 31 and 58, while four of those injured required hospitalization.
Mora turned himself in to police on Friday, September 29, eight days after the accident, and was booked with two felony counts of murder under California Penal Code 187(A). He has since been transferred to the Ventura County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on October 6. His bail amount is set at $5 million. Mora’s listed occupation is an engineer, and he was arrested on a Ramey warrant issued by Oxnard police following traffic investigation that gathered sufficient evidence for prosecution.
