On Sunday, the engine of the Jinnah Peoples Train, which operates between Kuchlak and Sariab near Quetta, derailed while leaving for its next destination. The train's engine number 5120 on Line No. 3 was involved in the incident during routine shunting operations. Initially, railway officials blamed the derailment on the alleged theft of a fishplate but later ordered an inquiry after Kuchlak police disputed this claim and suggested that poor track conditions due to ongoing work were responsible for the accident. No casualties occurred, and passengers remained safe; authorities arranged a replacement engine to continue the journey to Sariab following a brief delay.
