A high school runner on a track team, an Eagle Scout, discovered human remains while running near Plandome Pond Park in Manhasset at around 5:45 p.m. Thursday. The Nassau County Police Department is investigating whether the remains belong to Shi Hua Xu, a 79-year-old grandmother from Great Neck who went missing in December 2025. Xu, suffering from dementia, often took walks and was last seen in her neighborhood without her tracking device. The police commissioner stated that they aim to identify the body by the end of the day and do not suspect criminal activity at this time.
