The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall of 122,021 cases of Gatorade Lemon Lime, Gatorade Lemon Lime Zero, Gatorade Orange, and Gatorade Orange Zero due to undeclared food dyes Yellow No. 5 and/or Yellow No. 6. These products were distributed across 37 states, including Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin. PepsiCo voluntarily initiated the recall on September 25 after identifying the issue. The FDA classified this as a Class II recall, indicating mid-level probability of serious adverse health consequences, particularly for individuals sensitive to aspirin or yellow food dyes who may experience mild rashes or allergic reactions. Consumers are advised not to consume these products and to return them to retailers for refunds.
