On Tuesday, severe thunderstorms and potential flash flooding hit parts of south-eastern Queensland, including Brisbane and the Gold Coast, after an extremely dry September. The Bureau of Meteorology warned that up to 40 millimetres of rain could fall in isolated areas stretching from the NSW border north to Maryborough. Senior meteorologist Dean Narramore stated that some storms would be severe, bringing large hail, damaging winds, and heavy rainfall. Premier David Crisafulli addressed media at the Kedron Emergency Services Complex in Brisbane, urging residents to prepare for hazardous weather conditions following a dry period where Queensland recorded only 1.4 millimetres of rain.
