Rumi, a 20-year-old Middle Eastern restaurant in Brunswick East, Sydney, is celebrating its owner Joseph Abboud being named a Legend in the latest edition of a food guide. The restaurant offers share plates with flavors that blend traditional elements like muhammara (a walnut and capsicum dip) and contemporary touches such as charred leeks and sweet mint sauce (sirkanjabin) served alongside lamb shoulder. Known for its robust dishes, Rumi also serves a signature burnished cauliflower. The establishment provides complimentary pita bread refills and ends meals with knafeh, a cheese and pastry dish topped with pistachios and rose syrup. Adjacent to Rumi is its sibling restaurant, The Rocket Society, which offers half-price skewers during its daily "habibi hour" from 5pm to 6pm.
