On Wednesday, Yoido Full Gospel Church announced that data linked to approximately 850,000 members may have been compromised by a cyberattack. The breached data includes names and dates of birth for all affected individuals, as well as national identification numbers, addresses, and telephone numbers for some. Cybersecurity firm Oasis Security discovered attack records on an overseas server containing the church's information. Meanwhile, another South Korean church, Sarang Church, also reported a suspected cyber incident but did not provide specific details about the data compromised or member numbers affected. Both churches are notifying impacted members and taking security measures to prevent future breaches. This comes amid recent hacks targeting commercial banks in South Korea that led to customer data leaks, highlighting growing cybersecurity concerns in the country.
