Hong Kong police recovered HK$30 million worth of stolen gold from a hotel theft where 30kg of gold granules were swapped for eight bottles of fabric softener. The incident occurred in Kwun Tong when a mainland Chinese man reported the theft to authorities early on Wednesday. A friend traveling with him had disappeared, likely letting accomplices into their room to switch the items. Police used surveillance cameras to track down and arrest two men involved in the scheme within hours.
