In a recent episode of BBC News, host Evan Davis discussed with experts why Germany's economy has struggled since 2020. The panel included Verena Pausder, Chair of the German Start-Up Association; Nicola Pinder, a business expansion consultant for Baden-Wurttemberg; and Marcel Fratzscher, President of the German Institute for Economic Research. Germany, Europe’s largest economy, has seen minimal growth despite accounting for roughly one-third of continental manufacturing output. The panel suggested that Germany's slow adaptation to modern business practices and lack of competitiveness in industries have contributed to its economic woes.
