In February 2025, Dan Walker, then 30 years old, was dining with his wife and friends at the Raccoon Taproom in Collingswood, New Jersey, when he was attacked by an assailant. The attacker, identified as Tahaa Elmogahzy, aged 28, entered the restaurant and began harassing customers before targeting Walker just as they were about to leave. Elmogahzy stabbed Walker in the back, severing his spine, leaving him paralyzed from the chest down. Following the attack, Walker underwent multiple surgeries over the summer, including stays in intensive care and battling infections. Next Friday, at 31 years old, he will have screws removed from his left leg and undergo a total hip replacement. Elmogahzy faces charges of first-degree attempted murder and remains in county jail awaiting trial.
