Mirra Andreeva, a 19-year-old Russian player and current French Open champion, reached the final of the China Open on Saturday by defeating Nikola Bartunkova 6-2, 6-2. This win marked her 50th match victory of the season, tying her with Jessica Pegula for the most wins among players on the WTA tour. Andreeva is set to rise two spots in next week’s rankings and will face either Elise Mertens or the home favorite, Zheng Qinwen, for the title on Sunday. The 19-year-old previously beat Bartunkova at the U.S. Open earlier this year.
