A ceremony took place to mark the return of a Māori kiwi feather cloak from the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford, UK to New Zealand. The cloak was one of the farewell gifts presented to Dr George Cleghorn, a medical doctor who worked in New Zealand, by Māori leaders in 1900. It was loaned to the museum in 1913 by his widow. The Homebound Project, a charity supporting repatriation efforts, funded its return. Dr Lorraine Eade, chair of Ngāti Rārua o Te Wairau Society, emphasized the cloak's "beyond measure" significance and acknowledged Cleghorn’s advocacy for Māori rights to local healthcare. Shane Graham, CEO of Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rārua, highlighted that the return was a momentous occasion restoring cultural prestige.
