In a close college football game on October 29, Miami (Ohio) defeated UMass by a score of 20-19. Caleb Heavner and Scoop Smith scored touchdowns for Miami. With just over two minutes left in the game, UMass mounted a comeback with a nine-play, 70-yard drive culminating in a touchdown pass from backup quarterback Logan Inagawa to Max Dowling, tying the game at 19-19 with one second remaining. However, on the subsequent two-point conversion attempt, Malcolm McClain of Miami stopped Reece Adkins, preserving the Redhawks' lead and securing their victory. Miami's Heavner had a tough day passing but managed 54 rushing yards and a touchdown. The Minutemen will now travel to face Buffalo, while Miami will host Akron in their next games.
