A IndiGo plane made an emergency landing in Hyderabad after a passenger's power bank caught fire during a flight from New Delhi to Chennai. The incident occurred on October 11, 2026, causing panic among the passengers. Footage shows crew and passengers attempting to extinguish the flames with fire extinguishers before the plane was diverted to Hyderabad for safety reasons. All passengers were then transferred to another aircraft to complete their journey to Chennai. In response, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) reminded travelers that power banks must be carried in carry-on baggage, individually protected when not in use, and should never be used or recharged on board; passengers are limited to a maximum of two power banks per person.
