Wyatt Anderson, a 17-year-old high school student from Louisville, Kentucky, completed the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on October 8, 2026, with a time of 3:56:28. Less than a year earlier, in November 2025, Anderson suffered a severe spinal injury during a basketball game when he fell and hit his head on a wall, fracturing his spine and leaving him temporarily paralyzed from the neck down. After undergoing spinal fusion surgery and months of rehabilitation, Anderson started relearning how to walk. Inspired by the story of another individual who completed 50 marathons in 50 states while using a wheelchair, Anderson set out to raise awareness and funds for spinal injury research through his marathon run. His achievement highlights resilience and determination in overcoming significant physical challenges.
