A major fire on Monday, October 12, destroyed the Marché des Enfants Rouges, a historic food market in central Paris that dates back to 1615. The blaze broke out around 3:00 AM local time, and approximately 150 firefighters and 50 vehicles were deployed to tackle it. Despite their efforts, part of the market's metal structure collapsed during the fire. Designated a historic monument in 1982, the market has been a popular destination for street food and fresh produce. The incident left about 20 merchants without their stalls, according to Ariel Weil, the mayor of central Paris. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the devastating blaze.
