Chuck Kennon, Florida State’s top-ranked recruit for this year's class, was dismissed from the football program on Tuesday following a high-speed car chase that resulted in felony charges. On Sunday morning in Tampa, Fla., Kennon was initially pulled over for speeding at 79 mph in a 50-mph zone while driving his Dodge Durango. During the police pursuit, he reportedly exceeded speeds of 150 mph and ran a red light before crashing into a curb due to a flat tire.
While fleeing on foot, police found Kennon's phone inside the vehicle and detained a woman with lacerations who claimed she repeatedly asked to be let out. Kennon turned himself in on Monday and is now facing three charges: aggravated fleeing to elude (a second-degree felony), false imprisonment (a third-degree felony), and resisting an officer without violence (a misdemeanor). He remains in Falkenburg Road Jail, and Florida State has officially released him for conduct detrimental to the team.
