As of October 14, 2026, Bumble, a prominent dating app company based in Texas, was taken private by Ithaca Holdings for approximately £980 million (£757m to $1.3 billion). The deal marks a significant shift from Bumble's public listing on Nasdaq since 2021 when it reached a peak valuation of over $14 billion, now settling at around $580 million. Launched in 2014 by Whitney Wolfe Herd, who also co-founded Tinder, Bumble initially distinguished itself by allowing only women to initiate conversations in heterosexual matches but later changed this rule due to declining user engagement and shifting online dating habits. The acquisition aims to focus on enhancing human connections through technology, as stated by Ithaca Holdings' founders Ravi Gupta and John Hegeman. Wolfe Herd, despite not participating directly in the vote, approved the transaction and committed to remaining actively involved with Bumble post-acquisition.
