On October 14, 2026, a 19-year-old man named David Kulitapa was charged with multiple offenses including attempting to shoot a person with intent to murder and installing a tracking device. The incident occurred on June 9 in Fairfield, Sydney, when the alleged shooter pointed a handgun at a 44-year-old father and his 15-year-old daughter as they collected their child from school. CCTV footage showed the father and daughter fleeing the scene on foot after the gun allegedly jammed without firing any shots. The targets are relatives of the notorious Alameddine crime family, though neither have criminal histories themselves. Taskforce Falcon, an anti-gang unit launched by NSW Police in May 2025 to combat gang violence, is investigating this botched assassination attempt.
