Matt Gaetz, a former Republican congressman from Florida who resigned in November 2024 amid sexual misconduct allegations, has been named as a defendant in a federal civil lawsuit filed on October 13, 2026. The lawsuit, brought by attorney Spencer Kuvin and seen by the Miami Herald, alleges that Gaetz participated in a sex trafficking scheme involving two young women between 2017 and January 2019. The plaintiffs, identified as Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 2, were reportedly recruited through financial incentives, drugs, and personal connections facilitated by Gaetz and his associates. Also named as defendants are former Florida GOP House member Christopher Dorworth and Joel Greenberg, the disgraced former Seminole County tax collector who pleaded guilty in May to six federal offenses including sex trafficking of a child. Gaetz denied the allegations, stating he looks forward to taking depositions because "much of the conduct alleged against me is false."
