Josh Jacobs, a running back for the Green Bay Packers, was removed from the NFL commissioner's exempt list on October 16, allowing him to return to play in Week 7 against the Detroit Lions on October 25. The NFL investigation into his conduct under its personal conduct policy remains ongoing; thus, he could still face further discipline if new information emerges. Jacobs has missed the Packers' first five games due to an altercation with his then-girlfriend that led to his arrest in May and a subsequent suspension.
Similarly, Jonathon Cooper, a linebacker for the Denver Broncos, was also removed from the commissioner's exempt list on October 16, making him eligible to play immediately. He will join the Broncos against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 7. Cooper had been suspended since August due to domestic abuse allegations and arrest charges, including felony strangulation of his then-girlfriend, dating back to June.
Both players remain under investigation by the NFL for potential violations of its personal conduct policy, despite being allowed to return to play.
