As of Monday morning, Hong Kong police had received 130 reports of unauthorized credit card transactions related to pre-orders for Apple's new iPhone Duo, totaling HK$5 million (US$637,100). These complaints began shortly after Apple launched online pre-orders on Friday at 8pm. The cases were temporarily classified as “obtaining property by deception” and are being investigated by the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau. Over the weekend, the number of reported incidents increased significantly from over 100 to nearly 130, with some users experiencing duplicate or unauthorized purchases similar to issues that arose during the launch of the iPhone Pro 18 last month.
