Devotees are gathering in Mumbai and Hyderabad for the start of Ganesh Chaturthi, a 10-day Hindu festival celebrating Lord Ganesha. In Mumbai, streets filled with people buying idols, flowers, sweets, and other offerings. Idols were installed at homes and community shrines like Lalbaugcha Raja and Andhericha Raja. Meanwhile, in Hyderabad's Khairatabad neighborhood, a massive 69-foot-tall, five-faced Ganesha idol attracted large crowds, expected to draw over 30 lakh (three million) devotees by the festival’s end on Anant Chaturdashi, September 25. The grand idol symbolizes Panchamukha Sankatahara Maha Ganapati, representing the five elements of earth, water, fire, air, and space.
