On February 17, 2024, Sharon Gall, a 32-year-old woman from Northfield, Birmingham, was caught on camera reversing her red Volkswagen Golf at high speed outside the Cock Inn in Bartley Green. She crashed into another car, causing it to overturn and nearly crushing a man's head by inches. The incident occurred after she had been involved in an altercation outside the pub and was asked to leave due to intoxication. Police arrested Gall shortly afterward; blood tests revealed her alcohol level at 171 mg per 100 ml, well over the legal limit of 80 mg per 100 ml for driving. Despite the severity, Birmingham Crown Court decided against sending Gall to prison and opted for alternative sentencing.
