Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff, 36, survived a drive-by shooting in Mumbai's Juhu area on Sunday evening as he was leaving a football club in his BMW car. The gunmen fired shots at close range into the front passenger seat of the vehicle while it was slowly moving through a crowd; Shroff remained unharmed but his driver and an autorickshaw driver were injured, with the driver sustaining injuries to his left hand.
Police arrested three suspects in Kota, Rajasthan, on a train headed for Delhi. They are alleged members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and had been paid approximately $525 by the gang to carry out the hit on Shroff. A social media post linked to the Bishnoi gang initially claimed responsibility for the attack, but police are still investigating.
The incident has raised concerns about safety in Bollywood, with Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde warning that such attempts to intimidate public figures will not be tolerated and that authorities will take strict action against perpetrators.
