Ricardo Gonzalez, a US citizen, was injured during his arrest by ICE officers in Long Beach, California on October 17. According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers arrived at a "large group disturbance" involving federal agents and found Gonzalez handcuffed and bleeding when they intervened. The police removed the handcuffs and took him to the hospital for treatment. Mayor Rex Richardson filed a formal complaint with the Department of Homeland Security, alleging that Gonzalez was subjected to repeated Taser use and sustained significant injuries during the incident. ABC News reported that California Democratic Rep. Robert Garcia called the event "incredibly disturbing." The Department of Homeland Security has not commented publicly on why Gonzalez was detained or provided any details about the incident as of October 20, 2026.
