Firefighters made significant progress in containing the Lucas fire in northern California by Monday morning. The blaze, which started on Thursday, has burned over 4,120 acres across Lake and Mendocino counties. As of Sunday, Cal Fire's operations section chief Ryan Isham reported that the situation marked a "big turning point," with containment at 30%. About 900 people were evacuated due to the fire, though no deaths or missing persons have been reported. A man was arrested for attempting to bypass an evacuation roadblock. The ongoing effort includes around 163 engines and 72 crews, focusing on Elk Mountain where flames erupted more recently. Smoke production is expected to continue as firefighters work to secure the perimeter.
