Two people died in Banff National Park within a week, bringing the total number of climbing and hiking-related deaths this summer to seven. A 24-year-old experienced climber fell to his death on Recondite Peak, a remote area north of Lake Louise, after relatives reported him missing following his satellite tracker ceasing movement. The second incident involved a 33-year-old hiker from Calgary who was found dead near the Beehive Mountain while separated from his hiking companions. Local RCMP commander Susan Richter confirmed both deaths and noted that rescue specialists located the climber on September 9 after he had gone missing two days earlier. Recondite Peak, where the first incident occurred, stands at approximately 3,350 meters high in Banff National Park's eastern region near the Icefields Parkway.
