SAIC-GM-Wuling, a joint venture between SAIC Motor, General Motors China, and Guangxi Automobile Group, unveiled its new six-seat electric taxi called the Darion Taxi in Hong Kong on Tuesday. DH Legend Motors, the distributor of SAIC-GM-Wuling's vehicles in Hong Kong, plans to start delivering the new model next month. The Darion Taxi has a range of 540 kilometers and can be quickly charged within 30 minutes. However, despite this technological advancement, a lawmaker warned that the lack of quick charging stations remains the biggest challenge for reaching the government's target of introducing 3,000 electric taxis by next year.
