In June 2026, Pakistan expressed interest in purchasing 40 J-35 stealth jets from China along with other defense systems such as KJ-500 early-warning planes and HQ-19 air defenses. However, a Pakistani government social media post announcing the deal was quickly removed. In May of this year, Pakistan's Air Force stated they had signed an "initial collaborative agreement" to buy the J-35s but did not provide further details. This potential purchase raises concerns as Pakistan also has a F-16 upgrade deal with the US, potentially exposing Chinese stealth technology to American monitors.
