Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki will be sidelined for two to four weeks due to an upper-body injury, ending his ironman streak at 546 regular-season games since joining the team in 2019-20. The injury occurred when he was struck on the left hand by a shot from defenceman Michael Kesselring during Tuesday's game against San Jose. Despite finishing the game with a goal and an assist, Suzuki did not speak to media afterward due to receiving treatment. This streak was second only to Colorado’s Brent Burns' 1,017-game record for active players. Suzuki had been performing exceptionally this season, tying for second on the Canadiens with five goals in seven games and having scored 101 points last year, earning him the Selke Trophy as the league's best defensive forward.
