On October 27, two high-speed trains collided in Spain, resulting in at least 69 deaths and over 100 injuries. The crash occurred just after 9 a.m. local time near Toledo on the Madrid-Seville line when an Iryo train heading north collided with a Renfe train that had stopped ahead of it. This incident follows another fatal collision on the same route in January, which killed 46 people. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has stated that public trust in Spain's high-speed rail network has been broken and that any human error or system failure will be addressed accordingly. The transport minister, Óscar Puente, refused to resign despite calls for his resignation over the tragedy.
