On November 4, 2026, SWAT units responded to an "active threat" reported at a Citibank office complex in Brandon, near Tampa, Florida. The incident resulted in two deaths: one victim and the suspect involved in the shooting. Sheriff Chad Chronister of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the suspect died after being taken into custody, while one employee was killed.
The shooting occurred at approximately noon when a gunman crashed his car through a fence near the Citibank Center before opening fire inside the building. Law enforcement sources indicated that 3,200 employees were working on-site at the time of the incident. The suspect was fatally shot by an armed security guard, preventing further harm.
During the response, law enforcement evacuated hundreds of workers and secured the campus. Video footage showed long lines of people leaving buildings as officers swarmed the complex to clear it safely. Authorities believe this was a targeted incident rather than random violence.
