On November 4, 2026, an "active threat" reported at a Citibank office complex in Brandon, near Tampa, Florida, resulted in two deaths: one victim and the suspect, identified as Jacob Pearson. Pearson, 35, was angered over a $2,500 debt collection issue with the company. About three hours before the shooting, he called an attorney affiliated with Citibank threatening violence if a court hearing over the debt wasn't canceled. The incident unfolded around noon when Pearson crashed his gray sedan into the campus and fatally shot LeAnne Selman, 41, execution-style as she tried to flee. Authorities reported that Pearson was then killed by a security guard at the scene.
