Gurang-Gurang Macham, a senior at St. Bernard High School in Playa del Rey, California, has become known as possibly the tallest kicker in high school football history, standing at 6-foot-9 and weighing 200 pounds. This makes him three inches taller than Neil O’Donoghue, who holds the record for the tallest NFL kicker at 6-foot-6, and played nine seasons from the late 1970s to early 1980s with teams including the Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and then-St. Louis Cardinals. Originally from Sudan, Macham also plays basketball but decided to try football this season. So far, he has attempted 19 field goals in four games, successfully converting 11 of them (.579 accuracy). His team, the Vikings, currently holds an undefeated record at 4-0 after wins over Los Amigos, Westchester, Wilson, and Beverly Hills. The next challenge for Macham and his teammates will be a league game against Bosco Tech.
