Suspected Islamist militants killed at least 15 people in an early morning raid on the village of Madegoua, near Makary in northern Cameroon, according to local vigilantes and administrative authorities. The attack occurred around 2 a.m. (0100 GMT) on Thursday. Militants entered the village, pulled out men, tied them up, and executed them. Initially, 13 deaths were reported, but two more victims later died from injuries at Makary hospital. Some villagers suspected the assault was related to an earlier order for residents to vacate their homes due to the village's strategic location near Makary. No group has claimed responsibility, but a security analyst suggested it could be linked to Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) militants active in the region.
