The Aetas, an indigenous Philippine tribe, have refused a compensation offer of just 50 US cents per square metre of land for relocation due to the development of the Pax Silica tech hub led by the United States. The chieftain of the Aeta Hungey tribe expressed concern over the lack of information and prior consultation about how much land would be taken and what would happen to their livelihoods. With uncertainty surrounding their future, the Aetas are determined to stand firm against the project and demand more clarity on its impact.
