Despite persistent Middle Eastern conflicts, oil continues to flow through the Strait of Hormuz, albeit with some disruptions. On September 13, four vessels carrying refined oil products and bulk goods exited the strait, while two small-sized oil tankers entered. The data from analytics firm Kpler shows that exports have recovered to over 4 million barrels per day (bpd) in September after dropping to just 2.4 million bpd in August, the lowest since at least 2013. In the same week, a total of 13 tankers, mostly carrying crude oil, exited the strait with around 34 million barrels of crude. Analysts from JPMorgan noted that despite pipeline disruptions, Middle Eastern oil flows remain surprisingly robust, averaging 17.1 million bpd over the past 10 days, which is only slightly below the 2025 average.Saudi Arabia accounted for half of these exports, while Iraq contributed 35% of the volume.
