Antoine Boulanger, a Canadian filmmaker from Sherbrooke, Quebec and a graduate of Concordia University, recently won a silver medal at this year’s Student Academy Awards ceremony held in Toronto. His award-winning short film, titled "The Pichenotte", tells the poignant story of an elderly woman who is marked for death but unable to pass away peacefully. The win qualifies his work for consideration in the live-action short category at next year's Academy Awards, potentially putting him on a path similar to successful filmmakers such as Spike Lee, Robert Zemeckis, Pete Docter, and Trey Parker, all of whom have won Student Academy Awards early in their careers.
