The Los Angeles Chargers have placed their primary tight ends, David Njoku and Charlie Kolar, on injured reserve due to injuries sustained during a recent game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Njoku suffered a fibula injury while Kolar is dealing with a forearm injury; both are expected to miss at least four games. The Chargers currently only have one tight end, Oronde Gadsden II, active on their roster and may need to rely on practice squad players such as Evan Svoboda or Patrick Herbert (brother of quarterback Justin Herbert) for depth. These injuries come during a tough season for the team, which has seen five out of six free-agent signees sidelined by injury; the Chargers are 0–2 after consecutive losses at home.
