On July 28, a 31-year-old man was shot four times—once in the chest and three times in his legs—in a car park near an Andalucía Beach residential complex in Alicante, Spain. The shooting occurred around 5:30 pm during a dispute between drugs gangs; the attackers wore hoods to conceal their identities. After fleeing the scene in a vehicle with foreign number plates, witnesses called for help and bar staff rushed to assist the victim who was left bleeding on the ground. He was subsequently taken to Costa del Sol University Hospital in Marbella where he survived his injuries.
Three Britons were arrested days later near Malaga; two are held under preventive detention for attempted murder, while the third was released on bail pending further investigation. The shooting incident highlights ongoing drug-related violence impacting Spanish coastal areas frequented by tourists and expatriates alike.
