On Sunday, three hikers fell ill on countryside trails in Hong Kong as temperatures reached a sweltering 33 degrees Celsius (91 Fahrenheit). Two men were suspected of suffering from heatstroke during separate incidents, while rescuers helped a third hiker who developed dizziness. One 25-year-old visitor was airlifted by a government helicopter to Ruttonjee Hospital in Wan Chai for treatment after hiking on the High Island Reservoir East Dam-Po Pin Chau route in Sai Kung. This popular trail attracts many visitors due to its scenic views of Unesco-listed volcanic rock formations and sea stacks, making it particularly busy during hot weather conditions.
