On September 26, a Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Lisbon was diverted to Lyon, France after a passenger's powerbank battery caught fire. The Airbus A321-200 aircraft carried 198 passengers; the crew promptly secured the battery in a protective bag and no injuries were reported. Following the incident, the flight landed safely at Lyon as a precautionary measure. Passengers resumed their journey to Lisbon the next day after spending an overnight stay in a hotel. Since January, Lufthansa has banned the use and charging of external batteries on its aircraft, although passengers are still allowed to carry up to two powerbanks per person under certain safety conditions.
